Living in Round Rock Texas

You may have heard amazing things about living in Round Rock, Texas, but is it really a place that you should consider moving to? There may be some things on the list that would make you reconsider your move to Round Rock.

1: Commuting

Commuting is an issue. It will be excruciating if you are trying to get to Downtown Austin, especially if you live close to I-35. Round Rock traffic can be a nightmare. While traffic is inconvenient, it is a small price to pay for the privilege of living in a rapidly growing neighborhood. Fortunately, there are other routes that you can take, such as state highway 130 and state highway 45.


2: Limited Urban Culture

The urban cultural lifestyle is missing in Round Rock. This may not be the city for you if you're searching for a hip, fashionable, and trendy location with many upscale stores and restaurants. There is no actual nightlife in Round Rock, and the only places to go out in Round Rock are the local clubs and restaurants in Downtown Round Rock, which aren't half terrible. Though it isn't quite the same as being in Downtown Austin or The Domain, Downtown Round Rock may provide some quite delightful happy hours. Fortunately, The Domain is only about 11 miles away if you want more action.

3: It's Land Locked

The city of Round Rock is running out of space. Round Rock's borderlines will reach a point where new development communities will be prohibited. Georgetown is to the north, Austin is to the southwest, Hutto is to the east, and Pflugerville is to the southwest, making it very similar to Cedar Park. When it comes to being landlocked, even though Round Rock has more square miles, 34 to be exact, there isn't much space to move and shift.

4: Rising Price of Homes

The rising cost of housing in Round Rock is another disadvantage. For single-family homes, the median home price in the Austin Round Rock MSA was $476000 in January, and in the city of Round Rock, the median home price was $46250, up 41% year over year. It is still less than the city of Austin, which has a median home price of $550000, making Round Rock cheaper.

5: Old vs. New Round Rock

There is an old and new Round Rock, which means a mix of historic homes, alternative housing, and more unique residences are scattered across the city. A master-planned neighborhood that has been around since the 1990s sits across the street from a newer planned community that lacks amenities and has a small number of residences. Homes on acre lots and larger lots adjacent to undeveloped land are still available.

The city has put a lot of effort into making Downtown a popular destination. There will also be some modern urban living townhome alternatives, which are now being developed. Many of the older homes are evocative of those found in Austin, and they have an Austin-like vibe to them. Round Rock's architectural landscape is eclectic.

6: Commercial Development

When looking at Round Rock, there are currently no commercial projects that resemble the ones you could find in north Austin, such as The Domain. There aren't many mixed-use developments that combine work and play. The District will be one of the first of its sort, with hotels, restaurants, stores, offices, a grocery store, and flats, all of which will assist in alleviating the shortage of housing. A total of 900 residential units are expected to be built and accommodated. This 65.5-acre property will be located immediately east of I-35 on Green Lawn Boulevard, just off toll 45. This will increase the appeal of moving to and living in Round Rock, Texas.

7: You must be a Sports Fan

Round Rock, Texas, is known as the "Sports Capital of Texas." Football, soccer, basketball, baseball, small pro teams, college-level sports, youth sports, and cheerleading are all self-proclaimed, and there's even a NetFlix show about it. The Round Rock multi-purpose complex has earned Texas Round Rock the title of sports capital. It spans 68 acres and has ten customizable multi-purpose fields, and can be utilized for many events and competitions ranging from flag football to quidditch. There's the Round Rock Sports Center and historic settler's parks, which are the crown jewels of parks. For more activities and sports, The Round Rock Express, a minor league baseball team associated with the Texas Rangers, is Round Rock's most beloved franchise. There are numerous activities and concerts when baseball is not in session. Round Rockians even participate in youth sports; if you've never seen Texas youth sports, you must see them realize how much fun it is to sit on the sidelines and watch the families coach.

Round Rock residents enjoy competition and are passionate sports fans. Sports are a way of life here in Texas, and we have a lot of pride, which gives us a reason to brag with extra friendly taunting, but more importantly, it creates community and gives us a reason to get together and connect. You'll be alright in Round Rock if you become a fan.
