Buying a House during Coronavirus in Texas

Hey guys it’s Angie with Nora Wall and Company and I’m coming to you because I know that you have questions. This is for my homebuyers, about whether or not it is the right time to be buying and what should you be doing. So let’s get started!

OK so you were looking for a house before the pandemic struck and hit the whole nation and hit the whole world and you haven’t found the right place but you were still currently looking. You’re a little bit more cautious now as you should be. What does that look like for you? Real estate is still happening and still going on. It just looks a little bit different for all of us. We’ve gone more to a virtual setting as some of you may already know and you are experiencing yourself in your own workspace, but you can still continue to look for home. I would say that if you are on that journey, right now, to use extreme precaution. Use your hand sanitizer use your masks. Use your booties when you are entering a home. What I would do first is, I would tour the community to see if the house is going to be in an area where you can live well and enjoy. That’s step one even before stepping into the house.

Step two is if the realtor (I’ve done this too), if they posted a virtual tour, tour that and see if you can get a good feel of what that house looks like and feels like on the interior. If it’s a home that you are like “you know what this is a possibility, it checks all the boxes on our list,” then I would go ahead and scheduled to go see that property. Again, using extreme caution. I’ll use that word a thousand times.

The next next thing is, is like you were, during this time you were thinking, “Oh I do want to purchase,” but you haven’t gotten started yet. I would still highly recommend that you talk to Lender. They would be able to give you a direction as to how much can afford. They will be able to tell you where you are credit wise. All of that stuff. They are going to be your resource for being able to borrow the funds that you need to purchase your house. So, I will definitely seek out someone, a professional that done it for a while and understands even in this current climate what things are like and they can better explain to you all of those details that you will need.

The next step after that is after you’ve gotten pre-approved, go back to the first thing I was saying. Especially for those that are currently in the middle of searching. Do the same thing. Look at the neighborhoods. Go through the virtual tours and if something that you really really love then that’s when I would take action and schedule an appointment to go and view that home. If you’re saying well that was almost like a year from now that you were thinking of purchasing a house. This is also an absolute great time. We are not going to be driving around as much. There’s an opportunity for you to be able to build your own reserve for all the essential things that you will need for home purchasing. So the money that you spent for example on Starbucks runs and the gas that you spend on doing that you can save that money. It may seem like pennies but every penny counts when you are purchasing a home. So this is a fine time to be saving money. And adding a little nugget as I’d like to call so that you’ll have it when it’s time for you to purchase a home.

So if you have questions about home-buying and you wanna know if this is the right time for you. Feel free to reach out. You can hit me up in the comments. You can text me or give me a call. I would love to chat more about it. You guys stay happy and healthy and I will see you next time.
